The Moulettes (UK) & Plato's Dream Machine - LIVE Date: 2010-08-13 Organized by: Venue: Entrance: On this special night, The Moulettes (UK) will be giving an intimate live show with songs full of narrative driven alliterative epics of depravity, decadence and delirious devastation. On the night, they will be supported by drone chant punks Plato’s Dream Machine (Malta). Tim Ellis will be resident DJ for the night. More information will be provided in the not-so distant future & Venue to be confirmed… Band info: The Moulettes (UK) Cellist Hannah Miller, bassoonist Ruth Skipper and Ollie Austin (guitar, drums) have been playing and singing together for several years. Other members have come and gone, but since 2008 – with the addition of violinist Georgina Leach and percussionist Rob Arcari – The Moulettes’ sinewy, melodic sound has come into focus. They have shared stages, recordings, and personnel with the likes of Mumford & Sons (Ted Dwane of the Mumfords used to be their bassist) Noisettes, Mystery Jets, Patrick Wolf, Band of Skulls (Emma Richardson guests on the album), Liz Green and even the Ting Tings – supporting the latter on tour as three-quarters of electro-pop band Modernaire. Live, they have charisma to burn and have graced stages at Glastonbury, Bestival and Secret Garden Party amongst many others. They have busked across Europe and led music workshops with kids in Bosnia. They are set to play several festival dates this summer – as well as gigs on boats; with a 100-voice choir; in a caravan en route to Bulgaria; and at a festival in their own back garden. http://www.myspace.com/moulettes Plato’s Dream Machine (Malta) Diogenes of Sinope was knee deep in a stream washing vegetables. Coming up to him, Plato said, "My good Diogenes, if you knew how to pay court to kings, you wouldn't have to wash vegetables." "And," replied Diogenes, "If you knew how to wash vegetables, you wouldn't have to pay court to kings." Plato/s Dream Machine makes use of guitars, percussions, violin, an accordion, a flute, and ruthless throats. Disenchanted by the moderns, they jump back and forth between traditional folk, punk-influenced numbers, melancholic ballads, and drone-chants reminiscent of end-of-the-world times. Plato's Dream machine shall record their new songs in July, so stay afloat. http://www.myspace.com/platosdreammachine RAW Music Festival 2010 Date: 2010-09-04 Organized by: Venue: Entrance: The RAW Music Festival Returns to Bugibba Square on Saturday 4th September! |
